Employee motivation and job satisfaction are important human resource management outcomes that influence employees' attitudes, behaviour and workplace experience. This paper examines the conceptual relationship between employee motivation and job satisfaction through a review of recent empirical literature and established motivation theories. The literature indicates that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors can be relevant to satisfaction, while the strength of relationships may vary by sector, workforce and organizational context. Recent Indian studies have examined motivation and job satisfaction using survey-based designs, including studies of public and private sector employees and industry-specific employee groups. The present paper develops a research framework that can be tested using a structured five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. It proposes objectives, research questions, hypotheses, variables, sampling approach, questionnaire items and an analysis plan using descriptive statistics, reliability testing and correlation/regression. The paper is intended to provide an academically transparent base for an MBA research project and possible journal submission after primary data collection and appropriate statistical analysis.
