The traditional methods of attendance tracking are slow, prone to mistakes and proxy attendances, and the use of static QR codes can be bypassed by taking screenshots. In this paper, we describe our developed Proxy-Resistant Real-Time QR-Based Smart Attendance System, a web-based application that uses role-based authentication, session-based QR codes generation, QR scanning through a mobile phone, face verification using a webcam along with a live prompt, attendance management, a dashboard for faculty in real-time, student management by administrators and spreadsheets for reporting. The faculty creates an attendance session and shows the QR code of it, the students scan the QR code through a mobile phone and proceed to face verification before being marked as present. We conducted testing using actual AIML student and faculty accounts and showed the whole process, dashboard update, reporting and multidevice capability. This paper gives an overview of our system description, implementation, deployment, testing results, limitations and future developments mentioned in our project report.
