📝 Abstract
Enterprise Architecture (EA) plays a critical role in enabling organizations to align business strategy, technology investments, digital transformation initiatives, and operational excellence. As enterprises increasingly adopt cloudnative platforms, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Business Data Cloud, intelligent automation, platform engineering, APIled integration, and hybrid cloud architectures, architectural decisions become significantly more complex. Traditional architecture decision processes often rely on manual reviews, isolated documentation, subjective evaluations, and disconnected governance practices, resulting in inconsistent technology selection, duplicated capabilities, increased technical debt, higher operational costs, delayed project delivery, and fragmented enterprise landscapes. Organizations therefore require a standardized Enterprise Architecture Decision Framework that enables architects, governance boards, project teams, and business leaders to evaluate architectural alternatives consistently while ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, business capabilities, technology standards, security policies, compliance requirements, and long-term digital transformation objectives. This paper proposes a comprehensive SAP BTP Enterprise Architecture Decision Framework built upon SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework (SAP EAF), TOGAF®, SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Integration Suite, SAP AI Foundation, SAP Build, SAP LeanIX, SAP Signavio, SAP Cloud Identity Services, SAP Cloud ALM, Platform Engineering, Cloud-Native Engineering, Enterprise Observability, DevSecOps, Business Knowledge, Knowledge Graphs, and Responsible AI Governance. The framework establishes a structured decision-making methodology covering business architecture, application architecture, data architecture, integration architecture, security architecture, cloud architecture, AI architecture, technology architecture, and governance architecture. Enterprise architecture decisions are evaluated through standardized decision criteria, reusable reference architectures, Business Capability Maps, technology standards, governance checkpoints, risk assessments, sustainability objectives, operational metrics, and business value realization. The proposed framework enables organizations to accelerate digital transformation, reduce technology complexity, improve governance consistency, optimize enterprise investments, increase architectural quality, strengthen compliance, and establish intelligent enterprise decisionmaking across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
